Straying from the beaten path, Velvet Assassin developer has disclosed its intentions not to release any downloadable content or sequel to the forthcoming World War II stealth-action game.

This was stated at the New York Comic-Con where the game is being shown to the public. Since the game is based loosely on historical figures and events, the developer wants to make sure they are being respectful to the family being presented, thus the absence of sequel plans.

The game is due out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 soon.

The WWII-based stealth-action title Sabotage has finally sabotaged a publisher – Gamecock. The upcoming Replay Studios shooter features real-life British secret agent Violet Szabo as she risks her life behind German lines during the second war. The game is expected to ship to stores on PC and Xbox 360 next Fall.

The game experience plays out through Violet’s mind as she lay prostrate in a hospital bed towards the end of the war. Gameplay takes on an air of surrealism that affects every detail, from the washed out backdrops to vivid combat sequences. Violet’s strengths lie in her hand to hand combat, clinical marksmanship and a few other surprises she’s got tucked in her sleeve.

Red Orchestra Update Teaser

On the Red Orchestra website is a tease of an upcoming summer update for the WWII FPS. Here’s the deal:

The first “BIG” announcement we have is a massive new map entitled – Krivoi Rog. This map is an all out long range tank slugfest featuring a playable area over 4 kilometers long by 4 kilometers wide and a viewable range of 3000 meters. Set on the plains of the southern Ukraine the level pits the heavily armored Tiger and early war Panzers against the speedy T34/76. The update also features a new tank variant – the Panzer IV G, as well as a new option to manually reload tank main guns, choosing the next round type first before reloading.

Next up we have added several new graphical enhancements to the game. The game now features an all new adaptive bloom system that aside from looking amazing also simulates the effect of the eye adjusting when looking at bright areas. For those of you that experienced a “blurry” effect with the old bloom system (especially at low resolution) you’ll be happy to hear that the all new bloom effect is crystal clear even at low resolutions. And for even more eye candy, Anti-Aliasing and Anistropic Filtering settings are now configurable in-game. Many of the devs and testers have commented that with these new settings RO almost looks like a new game!

Finally, the next update will include many new server admin requested features as well as a string of bug fixes and community requested tweaks. As this is just a teaser we won’t go into all of those just yet, but keep an eye on www.redorchestragame.com for more details coming soon. We will also be looking at opening up some beta testing for the community shortly, so keep a good look-out for news on that!

Two patches were released on Wednesday, which I’m late at reporting on Friday. First up is a Company of Heroes patch, updating the WWII RTS to v1.71. The update includes general fixes and tweaks and balance changes. Grab it from the official website, 3D Downloads, ActionTrip, FileFront and Gamer’s Hell. Owners of the Steam version of the game will get the update automatically.

On Strategy Informer is the v1.1 update for various language edition of Space Force: Rogue Universe.

As for demos, only two were released: a LAN demo (direct link) for ThreadSpace: Hyperbol. Just like the online demo which was released a while back, this offers a chance to check out the game on networks that do not have any Internet access. Finally, a second playable demo for CivIV: Beyond the Sword is also available, offering the chance to play the first 100 turns of the Charlemagne campaign. Grab it from ComputerGames.ro, Gamespot and Gamer’s Hell.

Yet another World War II game is headed our way. EA has announced Medal of Honor Heroes 2, a new game built from the ground up for the Wii and PSP.

It’s June 6th, 1944, and the war is in your hands. Step into the boots of OSS Operative John Berg and infiltrate Normandy from behind enemy lines to undermine the Nazi regime. On both the Wii and PSP system, choose to tackle all-new missions in traditional single player campaign or engage in massive, 32-player online, continuous-joining multiplayer battles where you can jump into the battle at any time! The Wii version also features full support of the Wii Zapper (name not final), allowing for a more immersive WWII experience than ever.

In addition to a fully-fledged single player campaign, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 also features an all-new mode designed specifically for the Wii that simplifies gameplay for players of all skill levels for easy pick-up-and-play action. This mode plays like an old-school rail shooter – the Wii moves you around, while you do your part-taking enemies out and achieving objectives. For the PSP, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 will deliver the most comprehensive shooter experience to date on the PSP, with robust single player campaign and on-the-go 32-player multiplayer capability that allows you to battle it out, anytime and anywhere.

The game is in development at EA Canada and will be released for the aforementioned platforms sometime later this year.

From the North Pole comes word that two waves of maps for Call of Duty 3 are heading towards Xbox Live, one of which will be free.

The free map, dubbed “Champs“, will take players to Port Royal de Champs, France for infantry-based combat; it is said to be great for small to medium-sized online games. The Valor Map Pack, which will be purchasable for 800 points, will contain five multiplayer maps that take players through a maze of French locales, offering “intense close-quarters action, whether via online, split-screen or System Link play.”

Both map packs will be accessible after the holidays.

The PS2 hasn’t been forgotten by EA, or so it seems: the mega-publisher has announced Medal of Honor Vanguard, the latest in the WWII shooter franchise, for the PS2 as well as Wii.

Step into the boots of Frank Keegan, Corporal of the 82nd Airborne Division and engage in battles throughout Europe. From Operation Husky on the shores of Sicily to Operation Varsity inside Nazi Germany, you’ll fight behind enemy lines in the epic WWII battles that turned America’s first paratroopers into heroes of WWII. Featuring spectacular graphics adding to epic combat intensity, Medal of Honor Vanguard makes you the driving force in the struggle to liberate Europe. As the first game in the Medal of Honor series to be released on the Nintendo Wii platform, players can expect Medal of Honor Vanguard to take full advantage of Wii’s one-of-a-kind controllers.

The game is in development at EA Los Angeles and has no release date at the moment. No other details or media was released either.
