Two new videos from Tomb Raider: Underworld have been released, showing off some gameplay footage as well as developer interviews where they talk about the design of the environments.
Hit the jump for the second video.

With the game coming soon, Eidos has launched a new website for Tomb Raider: Underworld, made entirely from in-game footage. The site takes players to the depths of the Mediterranean to the deep, hostile jungles of Thailand.
Each section of the website is playable and offers several in-game rewards in the form of unlockable items. You will have to complete those pesky mini-challenges first, though.

This report reveals that SCi Entertainment, owner of publisher Eidos Interactive, is taking a loss in the operating fiscal 2008 year. It also discloses that the company does not think it can sell itself for its full value and is thus not holding any talks with potential suitors. However, the bigger news is that the company has pushed back the unannounced Tomb Raider game to this Holiday season
“By moving the release dates — including the new ‘Tomb Raider: Underworld’ game — into the more lucrative 2008 Christmas trading period the company said it would better optimize long term value,” reads the report. Tomb Raider: Underworld is expected to be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Not much is known about the game, but more information is expected soon.

The latest issue of PLAY magazine offers the world exclusive first look at Tomb Raider Underworld, the first next-gen entry in the tomb raiding franchise. Being worked on under the care of Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind the critically well-received Tomb Raider Legend, the game will be a “thrill ride for anyone new to the franchise,” according to the article. “The emphasis is on bringing Lara’s world to life, a lush, vast interactive world that reacts and remembers.”
Some of the major aspects of the game are going to be persistent environments where footprints will be left in mud, dead bodies and destruction will remain and more. A new “hybrid lighting model” was also developed for the game, which will also feature a more fluid Lara Croft, who will have “proper weight and secondary motion”, among other things.
Underworld is expected to be released sometime next year on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Yes, it’s no surprise that a next-gen Tomb Raider game is in the making, but official confirmation comes from an EuroGamer interview with Ian Livingstone, where the Eidos bigwig revealed that the new “Lara Croft” is so good that you’ll be literally “drooling”. Though he didn’t mention when the “drooling” might begin, he did mention that a third Tomb Raider movie may be made: a scriptwriter has been hired by Paramount, however it is “nowhere near the green-light process”, so don’t get your hopes too high… yet.
The full interview can be seen on EuroGamer’s online TV show.

Revealed earlier via rumors and semi-announcements, Eidos has finally officially announced Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary, a re-telling of the original Tomb Raider, for PC, PS2 and PSP. It is set for release sometime next year.
The first Tomb Raider, released back in 1996, has become a legend (and also created a legend out of its big-busted heroine), and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. As expected, the ‘Anniversary’ game will make use of an enhanced Tomb Raider: Legend game engine, though it will preserve the elements which made the original a classic. Development is being handled by Crystal Dynamics, the guys behind the Legend game.

Quoting SCi Entertainment CEO Jane Cavanagh, Tomb Raider Chronicles reports that Crystal Dynamics is hard at work on a new Tomb Raider game set for release in 2008. Responsible for the fabulously fantastic Tomb Raider: Legend, Crystal Dynamics is working on “new versions of Tomb Raider (including a PS3 version);” it is also working on a completely new franchise.
Can’t wait till 2008 for more Lara Croft goodness? SCi is set to release a special Tomb Raider 10th Anniversary Edition game in the second half of its 2007 financial year. It is also going to release Tomb Raider: Legend on Gamecube, DS and GBA.

One of Kotaku’s legions of “super secret agent reader” has sent in word that Eidos is planning on re-doing Tomb Raider 1 and 2 for release by the time the franchise hits its 10 year anniversary. To get your “juices” flowing:
Anyway, I was over at Eidos/SCi headquarters for an interview when I stumbled upon some material concerning a new Lara Croft game. My juices got flowing when I realized I was looking at the real thing and I started asking some questions. Turns out Eidos/SCi are planning on celebrating Lara’s 10th birthday by releasing a remake of her original adventure. We are talking improved graphics, new moves, the lot. If there is time, the “new” game will feature a remake of both Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider II: The Dagger of Xian, but right now the developers are focusing on Lara Croft’s first adventure.
According to Wikipedia, Tomb Raider hits the 10 year mark this November. Maybe an announcement from Eidos is imminent?

Having already confirmed it for the Gamecube, Eidos issued word that Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend is headed to all three current-generation Nintendo consoles - DS, GBA and Gamecube.
Currently available for the PS2, PC, Xbox and Xbox 360, Legend has moved quite a lot of copies thanks to rave reviews and basically being the best game in the franchise.
Lara Croft will be visiting the aforementioned Nintendo consoles this Autumn.

Get ready for another Tomb Raider movie: Dark Horizons reports that Angelina Jolie has signed on for the third film and that she has already started training for her role as Lara Croft.
This comes from Ian Livingstone, creator of the game and character, who said that in a statement to The Daily Express. As the article rightly points out, the first two films, despite critical beatings, have managed to score $274 and $156 million in their theatrical runs with great business on DVD.
Angelina Jolie is also currently working on other movies, including Sin City 2 and Ocean’s Thirteen. No release date was set for Tomb Raider 3, but don’t expect it before 2008.

Lara Croft is back, and better than ever! The seventh entry in the series has topped the UK charts in all categories - PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360 - except for the PC where it got beaten by another Eidos title Championship Manager 2006. The game is also the fastest selling title this year in the region.
Miss Croft has been in the new as of late, garnering a Guinness World Record as well as positive reviews on Legend.

Lara Croft has become yet more popular - the big busted digital vixen has been awarded a Guinness World Record as the “Most Successful Human Videogame Heroine.”
The prize is justified though: Lara has sold over 28 million games worldwide, appeared onstage with U2, adorned the cover of over 200 magazines, and she has also famously taken the blame for another goalkeeping error by England goalkeeper and big Lara fan David James. Additionally, two movies based on the videogame franchise have been made with Angelina Jolie in the lead role.
Tomb Raider: Legends is Lara’s latest outing. It will be available starting April 11 on the PSP, PS2, PC, Xbox and Xbox 360.
