Fans of the Sega mascot rejoice - Sonic will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl! It was confirmed by both Nintendo and Sega that the blue hedgehog will be duking it out with other iconic Nintendo characters.
“It’s amazing that after all these years we get to see these two much loved characters compete against each other in another fantastic title,” said Mike Hayes, President and COO of Sega Europe. “Bringing Mario and Sonic together again underlines the continuing partnerships between Nintendo and SEGA, and produces another industry first for our two companies.”
The game is out early next year on Wii.

Having revealed at E3 that Solid Snake will be a playable character in Nintendo’s upcoming fighter sequel Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it was learned that Snake’s creator - Hideo Kojima - will be taking a minor role in the development of the game, creating the title’s Solid Snake-themed level.
No other details on the game, or Kojima’s involvements, are known at the moment.

Leaving many fanboys breathless at E3, Nintendo announced Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, revealing that it will feature many characters from the world of various Nintendo games.
Meta Knight, the sword-wielding nemesis from Kirby; the angelic archer from Kid Icarus; Zero Suit Samus, Metroid’s heroine sans versatile armor; and Wario were all shown to be playable in the game. The last character was seen demonstrating a “noxious attack of gastronomic proportions.”
The game will also include Solid Snake, the protagonist of the hugely popular Metal Gear Solid series.
