Some games go through a troubled development, including of course the now-infamous Too Human game from Silicon Knights. The game was originally billed as a 5-disc adventure game for the PlayStation, then reappeared as a Gamecube exclusive and finally settled on the Xbox 360. However, it has hit hitches there too: a rather unimpressive E3 showing, lawsuit against its engine licensor and obviously delay-after-delay. All hope is not lost though.

Over on the fan-site TooHuman.net, Dennis Dyack, president of the studio, stopped by to confirm that the game is set for release sometime in 2008, with word that new information and details are ‘coming soon’. He also notes that all this will be followed up by a playable demo and that it will “speak for itself.” Finally, he urges fans to “hang in there.”

Following word that Silicon Knights, the studio behind Too Human, had sued Epic Games over Unreal Engine 3, alleging that Epic had failed to deliver features by set deadlines, Shacknews went to various developers for reactions to the issue as well as their experience with the engine itself. It is an eye opener.

First off, many developers and studios have had problems with the engine, with Josh Jeffcoat (Gearbox Software) going on to say that some parts of it are “dog slow” and that it has “issues”; however, he concluded that Epic was always honest with their work and that such limitations were there from day one. Another unnamed developer went on record, saying that Epic was late at delivering key features, but that it was upfront and honest about its doings.

Some other developers praised the company, having had no problems with them while some others criticized Epic for its tardiness. Many developers wished to stay off record, with Shacknews noting that many others have had negative experiences with the company.

Through a blog post, Dennis Dyack, Director at Silicon Knights, mentions that the studio does have sequels “in mind” for Eternal Darkness and that they’d definitely make them… after the Too Human trilogy is done. He goes over the differences, with respect to storylines, between the two games, revealing that the three Too Human titles will have ‘discovery’, ‘revenge’ and ‘enlightenment’, respectively, as themes.
