While most of us have all the big blockbuster games, there are always newcomers to introduce them to, and Microsoft is aiming at them with the expansion of its Classics collection in Europe by including three games – Halo 3, Mass Effect and Project Gotham Racing 4. They will be re-released on March 20 for just £19.99.

No introduction is really necessary for any of the titles. Halo 3 is essentially the most popular first-person shooter ever, amassing a huge following since its Xbox days. Mass Effect is the latest action-RPG from BioWare; exclusive to Xbox 360, the game has players travelling across the universe to save the world from a destructive civilization. Finally, Project Gotham Racing 4 is the latest installment in the street racing series.

Really, was there any doubt? Lionhead Studios has confirmed that more downloadable content is coming up soon for Fable 2, its open-world action-RPG. Here’s what their blog had to say on the matter:

"Will there be any more DLC for Fable II?"

The answer is quite simple;

"Yes".

So far Lionhead has churned out one piece of DLC that added the Knothole Island, a whole new area to explore. The studio declined to offer any more details on the DLC.

Dragon Quest Delay May Affect Final Fantasy XIII

It appears that the recently announced delay to the Japanese debut of Dragon Quest IX might impact the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII.

"There is a possibility that [the] Dragon Quest IX delay could affect Final Fantasy XIII," said Square Enix head Yoichi Wada.

The shift of DQIX from March to July has left the publisher without a major release for the rest of its fiscal year, which ends March 31. This delay was one of many reasons why the company lowered its profit forecast by nearly 63%.

Final Fantasy XIII is expected out in Japan by the end of this year on the PS3. North America and Europe will see Xbox 360 versions as well, though they aren’t expected before April 2010.

Rumor: Aliens RPG, Colonial Marines Cancelled

Kotaku reports that Sega has cancelled the Aliens role-playing game that was being worked on at Obsidian; it was announced back in 2006, but little has surfaced since. The site’s sources say that the cancellation has resulted in more than 20 employees being laid off. Similarly, Sega is also said to be “reviewing” Aliens: Colonial Marines, a shooter in the works at Gearbox, leaving its fate unclear.

Seemingly confirming Kotaku’s sources, Joystiq’s sources claim Sega has stopped funding both of the aforementioned games. Obsidian’s layoffs are also said to have affected the team working on Alpha Protocol, which is still expected out later this year.

All this comes days after Sega announced Aliens vs. Predator. It is set for release sometime next year.

It will combine strategy RPG, real-time strategy and shooter elements. There will be over 100 playable characters and the story will be told from two perspectives, having players step into the shoes of the antagonist, too.

The game is scheduled for release on June 2 for $35.
