
Square Enix and Gas Powered Games today announced the development of Supreme Commander 2, sequel to the well-received real-time strategy game from Chris Taylor and GPG.
"Gas Powered Games is an accomplished development house that has demonstrated its ability to successfully create and develop intellectual properties," said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. and Square Enix, Inc.. "We are extremely excited to begin working with Gas Powered Games’ talented personnel and see this strategic partnership as a significant step in our efforts to bring Square Enix titles to a broader global audience."
No other details were given.

The official Space Siege website is now online, offering the usual assortment of info, screenshots, video, forums and more from the upcoming RTS project from Gas Powered Games.

Philips has announced that Gas Powered Games’ Supreme Commander will be amBX-enabled and bundled with the company’s amBX line of PC gaming peripherals. This technology will allow the game to make use of sensory ambience like light, wind and rumble to further immense the player into the game.
“Supreme Commander is the perfect title to accompany and showcase the Philips amBX Gaming Peripherals effects,” commented Engelbert van Pelt, General Manager New Business Development, Philips Consumer Electronics. “Supreme Commander’s real-time strategy game play will maximise the lighting, wind and rumble effects that the Philips amBX PC Gaming Peripherals are capable of delivering. War gaming has never been so realistically scary.”
Other follows of amBX include Codemasters, THQ, Kuju, Introversion, Revolution and many other studios.

Those looking forward to wearing their mouse out can purchase the Dungeon Siege II: Deluxe Edition, a special collector’s set that includes the original Dungeon Siege II, the Broken World expansion pack, and a number of bonus items this October (November for Europe).
Bonus items include a 8×12 fold out map of the entire continent of Aranna, six printable portraits of Princess Eva, a “making of” video, wallpapers and concept art, and a short story titled “Katala’s Journey”.
No price point, or exact release dates, were mentioned.

Proving that Dungeon Siege is still popular, 2K Games today announced that it has acquired publishing rights to Gas Powered Games’ RPG series. As a result, the company announced “Broken World,” the first expansion pack for the game, along with “Throne of Agony,” a completely new title for the PSP.
Dungeon Siege II: Broken World, due this Summer, features an all-new campaign mode, a new playable race, new items, a brand new multi-class character development system and more. It will require the full version of Dungeon Siege II.
The series’ first foray into the portable world will be handled by SuperVillain Studios. The company is currently working on Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony, an entirely new adventure created for Sony’s handheld. It will feature all-new playable characters and a non-linear single-player campaign as well as support for Ad Hoc co-operative and competitive multiplayer games. The title is due this Autumn.
