At a Japanese press event, Sony announced that the redesigned PSP will launch in the region on September 20 at the price of 19,800 yen (around $160 US). It also announced additional new colors for the console - these light-colored models are being called “Bloom Series” and will come in rose pink, lavender purple and Felicia blue shades.
The company also announced a TV tuner (pictured) which users can attach to the new PSP via the USB port. The portable 17gm add-on will allow users to watch TV on their PSP thanks to the 1seg technology, which is only available in Japan. It will be released around the same time as the new PSP and will retail for 6,980 yen (around $60 US).
Japan will be graced by more PSP, too: a limited-edition Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII bundle. It will include special silver PSP, the game, and a keychain shaped like the sword of the game’s hero. The bundle will be released on the same day as the game - September 13 - and will be limited to 77,777 units selling for 25,890 yen (around $210 US) a piece.

On IGN is word that a director’s cut edition of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is coming our way. Dubbed ‘Complete‘, the movie will hit stores on Blu-ray and will feature additional scenes, as well as changes to existing scenes. Here’s a bit: “One new scene shown during the presentation was Sephiroth impaling Cloud and hoisting him over his head while his Masamune was still embedded inside of him, much like in Final Fantasy 7 for the PSOne.”
The article doesn’t report a definite release date, but that the title is expected to hit Japan sometime next year.

This rumor was shot down before, but it has been going persistently strong since people just cannot get the idea of a really hot Final Fantasy 7 remake on the PS3. Anyways, IGN sent off an email to Square Enix to squash the rumor once and for all; here is their reply:
Since the FINAL FANTASY VII tech demo at E3 2005, there have been a lot of rumors about the presentation hinting at an actual remake. While the June 2006 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly confirms the remake for release in 2007, Square Enix has never stated this.We have however confirmed that development has begun for Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII on PlayStation 3. These titles are part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Project which also includes a mobile game titled FINAL FANTASY Agito XIII.
Really, what kind of an answer do people need? “WE ARE NOT MAKING A F&*&@#! FINAL FANTASY 7 GAME!” That’s more like it, I guess.
