Koch and Monte Cristo have announced Silverfall, a new fantasy hack-and-slash action RPG. Scheduled for release this October for £35, the game will feature 150+ creatures and bosses, a create-your-own-character option, 130+ skills and spells, multiplayer modes and more.
Since the dawn of time, the inhabitants of Nelwë have relied on mighty elemental wizards to keep order. But the invention of steam power has overturned this ancient social order. Disillusioned by the introduction of new technology, certain sections of the population have turned instead to the power of nature. Taking advantage of the conflicts tearing apart the factions of nature and science, the forces of darkness lay siege to the magic domains in an attempt to seize power. From the peaks of Silverfall the Fair to the mist-enshrouded city of Cloudworks, your quest will take you far and wide as you clash headlong with the enemy. Up to two companions will accompany you on your journey as you face mortal danger.
Silverfall™ offers instantly gratifying gameplay, vast open areas to explore and plunder, hordes of unique creatures to cut a swathe through, and a unique interaction system: the way you treat your companions determines your relationship with them and how effective they are in battle.

VU Games has announced Eragon, an upcoming fantasy-adventure game tie-in with the movie of the same name. Scheduled for release this November for the PC, PS2, Xbox, GBA, DS, PSP and Xbox 360, Eragon is inspired by Christopher Paolini’s best-selling fantasy novel. The movie is expected to hit theatres on December 12.
Based on the best-selling novel, this epic fantasy-adventure centers on a young farm boy named Eragon whose destiny is revealed with the help of a dragon. Eragon, now a Dragon Rider, is swept into a world of magic and power, discovering that he alone has the power to save - or destroy - an Empire.
The game will let players engage in a combo and magic-based combat system, including finishing moves, multiple grapples and degradable blocks with counter attacks. Players will also be able to take part in flight-based combat and summon dragons; the game will also feature two player co-op featuring team attack bonuses and dragon fight/flight combo gameplay.
E3 will be host to the game’s public unveiling, with Fox and VUG premiering video footage and first look at the gameplay.

In the flurry of AGEIA-related announcements, INFERNAL, a previously unannounced third-person fantasy shooter was revealed.
In the works at Metropolis Software, INFERNAL is scheduled for release this Fall by Playlogic. Scoop:
Metropolis developers are designing the game to resemble an action movie, complete with car chases, shootouts and high-tech gadgetry. The action takes place in a variety of settings, from Alpine villages and medieval castles to power plants and industrial sites. Leveraging AGEIA’s PhysX technology, Metropolis developers let the protagonist and opponents use the environment in unique ways, with the environment in turn influencing the way the game is played. For instance, enemy units can hide behind objects, locate the best positions to shoot from, and analyze the environment in order to be most combat-effective. Enemy units can jump, roll or duck for cover.“The physics acceleration of the AGEIA PhysX processor is ideal for the shootouts, hand-to-hand battles and magic attacks of this new action title,” said Grzegorz Miechowski, CEO of Metropolis Software. “We expect to deliver many never-seen-before effects with the help of the AGEIA PhysX processor.”
“Metropolis Software demonstrates how graphics, gameplay and physics go hand-in-hand to create a captivating experience for gamers,” said Kathy Schoback, vice president of content acquisition at AGEIA. “The immersive action of this exciting new title should be a great testament to the action acceleration of the AGEIA PhysX processor.”
