Rumor: Wheelman Drives to Ubisoft?

Following Midway’s chapter 11 filing for bankruptcy protection, Kotaku reports a rumor that the rights to Wheelman, the action-driving game starring Vin Diesel, has shifted to Ubisoft.

While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the game’s listing on GameFly has been updated to show UBisoft as the publisher and “TBD” as the release date. Kotaku additionally notes that the game might be integrated in the Driver franchise, as Ubisoft has the rights to the series, and since the concept of the game fits in so well with the series.

An official statement from Midway is yet to come.

Forza Motorsport 2 Sponsoring Risi Competizione

As the official racing simulator for the whole racing season, Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios today announced the sponsorship of Risi Competizione‘s Ferrari 430GT for the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). The car’s paint scheme will display Forza Motorsport 2 and Xbox 360 on the hood of the car.

Risi Competizione as a racing team has been one of the most consistent race teams on the circuit. To date, the team has won two championships, achieved 29 podium finishes and has a race completion ratio of 84% along with a podium place ratio of 64%. Ferrari’s 430GT has served the team well this far, with third place finishes at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the Lone Star Grand Prix.

Forza Motorsport 2, scheduled for release this Holiday season, is a sequel to the fully-customizable driving simulator. It will feature authentic simulation physics, “bone-jarring” damage and “photo-realistic” graphics as well as licensed tuning and customization options.

GTR Does 360

THQ has announced a multi-title deal with SimBin that will see the GTR franchise racing to the Xbox 360 soon. Directed by professional racing driver and former FIA GT Team Owner, Henrik Roos, GTR is expected to ship for the next-gen console in Spring 2007.

No details were revealed, but both the studio and THQ had big things to say about the upcoming game.

HumanLimit Announced

HumanLimit, an online, free-to-play, endurance driving game has been announced by First Person Plural. Set in the present world, the game will have players going through a prize system before “culminating in the final ‘drive until you drop’ endurance competition and a substantial grand prize.”

Set for release in Q3 2007, interested players can join in on the beta.
