Capcom today announced the contents of the Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition package, which will retail for $80. The expensive edition will come in a Steelbook case and feature two nice extras - volume 1 of the DMC animated series and a bonus DVD filled with extras.
The animated series disc includes the first four episodes of the 12 episode anime series, a $29.99 value. The other bonus disc will be one that players can slip into their computers; it will contain a “making of” feature on the game, music from the soundtrack, a digital art book, wallpapers, icons and screen savers.
Both the standard and collector’s edition packages will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 5, 2008. The game is also being released on PC.
Bringing good news to gamers (and to Ethan, in particular), Microsoft and BioWare today announced that Mass Effect has gone gold; they also offered details on the limited collector’s edition. Available through participating retailers, the collector’s edition will offer the following bonus materials:
- A “Mass Effect” fiction book titled “Galactic Codex: Essentials”
- A 36-page guide to the “Mass Effect” universe, including a Citadel timeline and a guide to all non-human races, biotics and the key locations in the Perseus arm of the galaxy
- An additional “Mass Effect” art book titled “A Future Imagined”
- A 36-page collection of BioWare’s concept art for the game
- A bonus DVD of exclusive “Mass Effect” background material and additional content including:
- “The Vision of “Mass Effect” documentary
- “The Making of “Mass Effect” documentary
- “Interactive Storytelling” documentary
- “Inside BioWare” documentary
- 18 “Mass Effect” themed gamer pics (three unique sets of six)
- 16 dashboard themes (four unique sets of four)
- Ten songs from the “Mass Effect” soundtrack
- Five historical “Mass Effect” trailers from X05 through E3 2007 and the official TV trailer
- A demo for “Blue Dragon” and videos for “Lost Odyssey,” “Halo 3″ and “Halo Wars”
- Design galleries featuring 600 concept images fully commented by the Art Directors
- “The Vision of “Mass Effect” documentary
As with most games these days, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will also receive the collector’s edition treatment for its PC and Xbox 360 versions. Charging a $10 premium over the standard edition, the limited edition will be available only in GameStop.
The Collector’s edition will include a hardcover book with final artwork and other images from the game. The Xbox 360 version will also include a bonus DVD with interviews and features, documentaries and more. Meanwhile, the PC version will see a digital copy of the BradyGames official strategy guide. No word on whether the PS3 will get any collector’s love or not.
The Collector’s Edition bug has bitten Tabula Rasa, which will also receive the exclusive treatment. NCSoft will release the collector’s edition will exclusive in-game items, including a special character emote, exclusive dye recipes players can use to create unique armor colors and an unique pet. Players will also receive a briefing from Richard Garriott’s alter-ego in the game (General British), classified maps, an Allied Free Sentients (AFS) field guide, dog tags, an AFS challenge coin and a special edition poster. It will also come with a making-of DVD and one month of free gameplay.
“The Limited Collector’s Edition we have put together for Tabula Rasa is loaded with cool things for players who really get into the role-playing aspect of the game,” said Executive Producer Richard Garriott. “Regular players will find the maps and field guide useful as they move full-force into the game’s fast-paced action. Other items, like the dog tags and challenge coins, bring home the ‘brothers in arms’ feeling of this game even when you aren’t playing.”
Tabula Rasa is set for release this Fall.
The ongoing Collector’s Edition fever has grasped Paradox Interactive’s Europa Universalis III which will come in two versions when released during Q1 2007.
As expected, the Collector’s Edition will include exclusive assets such as a 100 page 4-color strategy guide, a special Producer introduction to the game, the official soundtrack, composer’s diary, as well as exclusive download content. This is in addition to a 140-page 4-color manual, a poster map showing all provinces and collectible stickers.
Those looking for Gears of War goodness come November 17 will be delighted to know that the Collector’s Edition is now up for pre-order. Described as a “highly collectible embossed metal box” by Microsoft, the game’s publisher, the Collector’s Edition will feature Destroyed Beauty, a hardbound art book detailing the process behind the game; a bonus special features DVD, including an inside look at the making of the game, the “Art of Gears of War” trailer and Gears of War: The Race to E3 video feature.
The Collector’s Edition, pictured below, will retail for $60 and £50 in North America and Europe, respectively, once released.
Details of the Collector’s Edition of Auto Assault have been announced by NCSoft. According to the company’s announcement, gamers who purchase the CE will get an exclusive in-game “pet” in the form of a radio-controlled car, a 19-track soundtrack of the game composed by Richard Dekkard, an Auto Assault poster, a headset (including microphone) for in-game chat, a fold-out road map of the game world, a key ring, collectable postcards and a 14-day free trial for a friend.
Interested gamers can pre-order the game starting March 17, ahead of the title’s Spring 2006 release. Those who pre-order will receive an exclusive in-game weapon, access to the Auto Assault beta and a four day head start when the game launches.
