Financially ailing publisher Atari has announced that it has signed a publishing agreement with AQ Interactive to bring over Bullet Witch from Japan to North America and Europe.

In the works at Cavia, Bullet Witch is set on Earth in 2013 when human kind is attached by demons. Humanity’s survival rests on Alicia, a witch blessed with magical skills and a “swift” trigger finger. The game will combine magic and shooting, and will take advantage of Xbox 360’s advanced physics engine by showcasing environmental damage, explosions and destruction. It will also support Xbox Live, providing fans with download content post-launch such as character costumes and extra levels.

No release dates were mentioned.

It’s no surprise that the Xbox 360 has been a failure in Japan while selling out in other regions. Reports are coming in that Microsoft is planning to do a console relaunch in the region on June 29, with the company expected to announce this in a press conference being held next week.

The specific date is also host to releases of some major titles for the console - Chrome Hounds, Spectral Force 3: Innocent Rage, Bullet Witch and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter will all come out that day, making it somewhat of a special day for 360 gamers in the region.

It is not known whether this relaunch will see the console’s pricing or bundles being changed, or whether it’ll just be a new marketing campaign. But whatever it is, Microsoft hopes on it being a savior to the next-gen console in Japan.

A trio of Xbox 360 titles was announced by AQ Interactive some time back - Cry On, Vampire’s Rain and Bullet Witch. Now, news has cropped up from Japan that Bullet Witch will be cursing stores this Summer. According to Gamespot’s retail sources, the Cavia-developed title will be released in the country on June 29 for Microsoft’s next-gen console.

The game has players taking on the role of a witch with magical powers… who makes use of a broom-shaped gun to take down demons and save mankind. The aptly titled game will make use of Xbox Live to download additional stages and special costumes.

No Western release dates have been mentioned. The game hasn’t even been announced for either North America or Europe, so this is a Japan-exclusive game for the time being.
