The weekly Steam update reveals that a Team Fortress 2 movie will be released next week. It will make its debut at the Leipzig Games Convention and will be uploaded to the service thereafter. The movie will showcase the Soldier class from the upcoming class-driven multiplayer shooter.
In other news, the update carries a movie of their resident artist showing off TF2’s unique art style at the SIGGRAPH convention. It also asks users to get ready for BioShock, which will be released on the service this Tuesday alongside its retail release.

The latest Bungie update offers word that development work on Halo 3 is winding down and that the highly anticipated game is roughly 99.9% complete. They are currently doing testing and bug fixing, which is the very important .1% bit, through the Epsilon program. It’s a closed, final phase testing for the game, including a lone single-player mission and three multiplayer maps.
The rest of the update talks about playing the game on a huge IMAX screen, their server-side stuff for the game that offers the option for uploading game movies and screenshots (among other things) and storing them online for public viewing, and a sneak peek at a new multiplayer map called Narrows. They have released a couple of screenshots from the map, one of which I have included in this post.

You can thank Gamers-Creed for letting the world know that there IS a GameSpot Korea, which they cite as a source for the following juicy phrase: Ninja Gaiden 2 at TGS.
Apparently, the game was confirmed by an insider in the Japanese games industry, who claims that the game will be shown on the Xbox 360 at the show though there might be a PS3 version in development. According to their source, this is being done because of the good relationship with Microsoft and the franchise’s developers. He also notes that this move is necessary to Microsoft to increase sales of their console which is ailing far behind the PS3 and Wii in the region.

Mac gamers, as rare as they are, can now purchase four EA games from the online Apple Store. The four games - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Need for Speed Carbon, Battlefield 2142 and Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars - will also be available from stores starting tomorrow.
Interestingly, this lineup previously included Madden NFL 2008 and Tiger Woods PGA 2008, both of which have been delayed. They are now slated for release in September/October, according to Macworld, who has more information on this deal.

Some games go through a troubled development, including of course the now-infamous Too Human game from Silicon Knights. The game was originally billed as a 5-disc adventure game for the PlayStation, then reappeared as a Gamecube exclusive and finally settled on the Xbox 360. However, it has hit hitches there too: a rather unimpressive E3 showing, lawsuit against its engine licensor and obviously delay-after-delay. All hope is not lost though.
Over on the fan-site TooHuman.net, Dennis Dyack, president of the studio, stopped by to confirm that the game is set for release sometime in 2008, with word that new information and details are ‘coming soon’. He also notes that all this will be followed up by a playable demo and that it will “speak for itself.” Finally, he urges fans to “hang in there.”

It is a known fact that BioShock features music from the ’40s and ’50s to immerse the player into the game experience; did you know they will be releasing remixes of some of those songs by famous DJs? 2K Games has announced the release of an exclusive EP remixed by Moby and Oscar the Punk - it will be bundled with the Limited Edition version of the game in GameStop and EB Canada; it will also be available as a pre-sale gift-with-purchase from Game Crazy, another game retailer.
The three remixed tracks on the CD include Beyond the Sea, God Bless the Child and Wild Little Sisters, variations of which appear within the game.
“While these classic songs from the 40’s and 50’s evoke a happier time, they take on an eerie aesthetic in BioShock’s decaying art deco-designed underwater city of Rapture,” said Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K Games. “Moby and Oscar The Punk have captured that disparity with these remixes and added a new spin to these indelible classics.”
BioShock, already released to a lucky few thanks to a Toys R Us goof, will officially be available starting tomorrow in North America and this Friday in Europe for PC and Xbox 360.

Though Blizzard is doing well in China, it still isn’t far away from legal problems. The company has been sued by Chinese IT company Founder Electronics who is claiming for 100 million yuan in damages for copyright infringement. Apparently, Blizzard, The9 (which runs WoW in China) and Qingwentuwen (Beijing distributor) had used five fonts from the company’s database for use in World of Warcraft without proper authorization.
Founder Electronics, the largest provider of Chinese fonts in the country, claims that the infringement of copyright was “serious” due to the fact that WoW has more than 7.5 million active player accounts. “The lost earnings of one billion yuan was a conservative estimate,” they said.
No comment has been made yet by Blizzard. This is, interestingly, the largest IP suit in China, a country ridden with software piracy.
