
In an interview to Newsweek, SCEA’s Phil Harrison revealed that additional content for Resistance: Fall of Man will be released this April. He states that the content will extend the current story, adding new locations and other stuff. He didn’t reveal anything else, though he mentions that the DLC will “keep the engagement with the game going between now and should there be a sequel at some point in the future.”

Konami has revealed that they will be shutting down the online service for Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence in North America on April 2. They wish to focus on Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (PSP) which also offers online play and various multiplayer modes.

Following their announcement of MySims, EA revealed that the SimCity franchise is heading to the DS as SimCity DS. Developed from the ground up for the dual-screened portable, SimCity DS will let players create and manage their own city in their pockets while being on-the-go.
True to the SimCity series, players will be able to create and control their city in the palm of their hands…and much more. Maximizing the stylus and built-in microphone controls of the Nintendo DS, SimCity DS brings to the franchise like never before the feeling of personal involvement with your city-from blowing into the microphone to put out fires in the city to signing off on mayoral proclamations with your stylus. By enabling the players to communicate with each other, the “wireless data exchange” feature brings additional interactivity into the game. As an added bonus to SimCity fans around the world, the game also offers a wide array of recognizable international landmarks to spice up your city.
SimCity DS will make its debut this Summer.

Music 4 Games reports that Warner Music has purchased the worldwide music publishing rights to music compositions of Microsoft games, including Halo, Fable, Age of Empires and Kameo.
This deal sees Warner claiming and registering Microsoft-owned copyrights in all territories of the world, as well as “identify and develop new synchronization, performance and other music publishing opportunities for the Microsoft music publishing catalogs.” The agreement also includes composition for unpublished games, including Halo 3.

Rockstar Games announced that they will use euphoria, an advanced human body simulation technology, in its next-gen titles. The advanced technology is also being used by LucasArts for its upcoming titles, including Indiana Jones and the next Star Wars game.
According to the announcement, the integration of the technology is “well advanced” and that it is the result of “several months of close collaboration” between NaturalMotion and Rockstar Games.
Though no title was explicitly mentioned, it can be concluded that Grand Theft Auto IV will make use of the technology. It is due out this October on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Australian MMO developer Micro Forte announced that it has cancelled development of the Citizen Zero project, but that it is now working on a “top secret spy-themed MMO.”
Said to be in production since mid 2006, the game will incorporate new gameplay elements and technologies, according to Paul McInnes, Lead Designer. No other information was disclosed, though they do mention that further details will be released via announcements in the coming months. They also plan to showcase the project toward the end of the year.

Sega has announced that Shiny Entertainment, the studio behind the Matrix games, is working on a game based on the upcoming film The Golden Compass, an adaptation of the first novel in the trilogy His Dark Materials.
Players will take on the role of heroine Lyra Belacque and her companion bear Iorek Byrnison. It was mentioned that Lyra’s likeness will be taken from Dakota Blue Richards who plays the character in the movie; Daniel Craig will lend his face to the game’s Lord Asriel. No other information was divulged.
The Golden Compass is being developed for the PS2, PSP, PC, PS3, Wii, DS and Xbox 360. It is set for release this Fall, well in advance of the film’s December release.

From the developers of Operation Flashpoint comes Armed Assault: Combat Operations. Atari has announced Bohemia Interactive’s latest military endeavor for release on PC this May.
The game will offer realistic combat simulation in a modern day setting. Players will be able to go through the story-driven single-player campaign or take part in huge multiplayer battles with up to 50 players on a battlefield. Combat Operations will feature more than 150 square miles to explore, 30 vehicles, powerful built-in editor and more.

Gamers across America will once again get the chance to hunt Monsters: Capcom has announced that it will release Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for the PSP in the region. This game builds on the original PS2 game, featuring 50% more content than the original Monster Hunter Freedom. There will also be multiplayer cooperative battles for up to four friends via wireless ad-hoc mode, and much more.
Already a sensation in Japan, Freedom 2 is well on its way to beating the records that its predecessor set: Monster Hunter Portable had an attach rate of about one game sold every five systems in the country, making it Japan’s top-selling PSP title.
Capcom plans on releasing the title throughout the region this September.

EA has officially announced the full soundtrack to UEFA Champions League 2006-2007, the only officially-licensed videogame of the tournament. Featuring a total of 11 songs, the playlist is an “exhilarating collection of music from around the world,” as described by Steve Schnur, Music and Marketing Executive at EA. Here’s the deal:

As its next project, Introversion Software, the self-proclaimed ‘last of the bedroom programmers’, is working on a multiplayer version of Darwinia. Wittily dubbed Multiwinia, the game will add multiplayer support to the strategy game, offering both co-operative and competitive battles between massive Darwinian armies. The game will also offer a series of separate game modes, each with a number of unique levels offering a variety of new challenges.
No other information was divulged, though it was mentioned that Multiwinia will feature graphical updates as well. It is being targeted for release sometime next year.
