Get ready to dig your teeth into next-gen consoles, all thanks to The Collective who announced Harker, a vampire-hunting game for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Inspired by ‘Dracula’, the classic horror novel, the game has players take on the role of a “very different” Jonathan Harker, who is vengeful against the creatures of the night after his wife falls victim to Dracula. The gameplay will see players tracking down and hunting these ferocious killers, making use of an “up-close and personal” combat system, using a variety of weapons and environmental factors.
“‘Harker’s’ goal is to bring an in-your-face, visceral, and personal style of combat to the survival horror genre,” said Nigel Cook, producer. “None of these vampires are going to die with one shot. They’re going to fight for their survival, which will give the player a huge level of satisfaction when they successfully execute one.”
“Harker” will bring to life the underbelly of the 18th Century World, taking players into diverse locations, areas never explored in history books, in a gritty, realistic art style that will fully immerse players in their environments. The game also features an incredible roster of blood-thirsty, shape-shifting vampires each with their own savage abilities, sometimes hiding in plain sight; the player may never know just how close they are.
Harker is set for release sometime in 2008. The Collective, a division of Foundation 9 Entertainment, is also working on Dirty Harry, as well as other unannounced projects.

EA has announced NBA STREET Homecourt, the newest iteration of its streetball franchise. The fourth entry in the series expands on the fast-paced 3-on-3 basketball gameplay with a new animation engine and control system; players will also be able to create gravity-defying tricks on the fly.
“NBA STREET Homecourt gives fans the opportunity to play where legends were made, and will be made,” said Dan Ayoub, lead producer on the product. “Every legendary player got his start somewhere and most of those roots are set in homecourts across the United States. The vision for the game’s concept, visuals and gameplay all give a nod to those hometown courts, and will provide fans with an incredibly addictive and rewarding experience.”NBA STREET Homecourt merges legendary proving grounds with the homecourts of your favorite NBA stars, featuring 360 degrees of view. The NBA’s best are rendered with the same level of meticulous detail, making true athlete likeness a reality and putting you up close and personal with every move and moment. Earn a name for yourself and garner respect as you progress along your hometown journey and become a legend.
The game is in development at the publisher’s Vancouver studio for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Everyone saw it coming, but here it is anyway: since word got out that both Universal and Fox had backed out of the Halo movie, it was public knowledge that the project would be put on hold. Here’s the official word from Wingnut Films, the guys behind the movie, courtesy of AICN:
As was previously confirmed, we deeply regret that both Universal and Fox did not choose to move forward with financing the Halo film under the original terms of the agreement. At this time Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, along with their partner, Microsoft, have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe until we can fulfill the promise we made to millions of Halo fans throughout the world that we would settle for no less than bringing a first class film to the big screen. We are fully supportive of Director Neill Blomkamp’s vision of the film. Neill is a tremendously gifted filmmaker and his preliminary work on Halo is truly awe-inspiring. While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait.

Showing off Clive Barker’s genius is four screenshots from Jericho, his upcoming horror shooter. In development at Mercury Steam for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, the game will have players step into the shoes of a seven-man strike-force that is trained in both conventional warfare and the arcane arts. Further information inside.
A 30-second 720p video was released too - you’ll find it on the game’s official website.

Love to cook, but don’t want to kill people gastronomically? Then Cooking Mama: Cook Off for the Wii is for you: Majesco has announced the follow-up to the DS title that will make use of the Wii remote, letting players mash, slice, chop and stir their ways through more than 300 real-world recipes from ten different nations. The game will also offer two-player kitchen competitions to see who can cook the best meal the fastest.
In development at OfficeCreate, Cooking Mama is set for release early next year exclusively for the Wii.
I initially read the title as “Cock Mama: Cock off”… a ’suitable’ title for a, err, suitably named console.

According to Variety, the ever-popular fighting series Street fighter is getting another movie. Capcom and Hyde Park Entertainment have teamed up to produce the film in a joint venture, which will see the story focusing on Chun Li, the game’s most popular (and skimpy) female fighter; exact story details are still under wraps, though. As per the article, the film is being targeted for a 2008 release, just in time for the series’ 20th anniversary.

Revealed earlier via rumors and semi-announcements, Eidos has finally officially announced Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary, a re-telling of the original Tomb Raider, for PC, PS2 and PSP. It is set for release sometime next year.
The first Tomb Raider, released back in 1996, has become a legend (and also created a legend out of its big-busted heroine), and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. As expected, the ‘Anniversary’ game will make use of an enhanced Tomb Raider: Legend game engine, though it will preserve the elements which made the original a classic. Development is being handled by Crystal Dynamics, the guys behind the Legend game.

Microsoft has already released the ‘Autumn’ system update for Xbox 360, adding the highly touted 1080p resolution support, expanded video playback features, reorganized Xbox Live Arcade features, XNA support and more.
All changes are listed just after the jump.

If “politically edgy sci-fi” action thrillers are your thing, then be sure to check out Citizen Siege, an original CG-animated film from Oddworld Inhabitants. The co-founders of the company, Lome Lanning and Sherry McKeana, have teamed with Vanguard Animations to develop the movie which will see direction from Lanning.
In CITIZEN SIEGE, Lanning and McKenna are creating a new universe where current global conditions are extrapolated into a frightening near future where democracy has all but disintegrated under the rule of global corporatism. Well-known for their heartfelt characters and socially relevant storylines, Oddworld intends to raise the intensity level as their latest hero, an ex-patriot, finds himself ensnared in a nightmarish credit racket that leaves him “repossessed.”
Citizen Siege is Lanning’s first foray into animation, after the company’s announcement that it would stop game development and move into feature films. As for Vanguard: it is the studio behind the Shrek franchise and Valiant, their first CG animated movie which was released last year.
No release date for the animated movie was given. Further information is expected soon.
