Gamespy’s Enemy Territory: Quake Wars developer diary reveals that the highly anticipated multiplayer shooter has been delayed to next year.
It’s also been a challenging year, as the team here has given extraordinary effort towards completing the game this year. Unfortunately, sometimes effort isn’t all you need — sometimes you just need more time. To ensure the quality we want, we’ve decided to push the release out of 2006 to allow for extended testing, feedback and game balancing.

In typical Need for Speed fashion, EA has announced that Emmanuelle Vaugier will star in NFS: Carbon this Autumn. You may remember her from Saw 2 and 40 Days and 40 Nights, as well as CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men. Vaugier will star as Nikki, the ex-girlfriend of the hero who has returned to town to face his “mysterious” past.
“Being able to work in a videogame for the first time and working with the Need For Speed Carbon team at EA has been a great experience for me. This is a game that evolves the racing genre, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it”, Vaugier said. “Playing the role of Nikki allows me to take a completely fresh approach to acting and push the boundaries of the creative process.”
Carbon will seemingly feature the same video-acting style found in Most Wanted, but will hopefully be better as David Footman, who has worked on Hollywood blockbuster films such as X-Men (1 and 3), Fantastic Four and The Day After Tomorrow, has directed the green screen video shoot with Vaugier.
Being developed by EA Black Box in Vancouver, British Columbia, Need for Speed: Carbon will be released this Autumn for all next-gen platforms, on top of all current-gen platforms, handhelds, PC and mobile.

Have one of those newfangled Creative XFi sound cards? dSonic, in conjunction with Creative, has released an Adaptive Audio MOD for Unreal Tournament 2004, taking advantage of the features present in the cutting-edge sound cards.
“With this mod players will get new weapon sounds that completely surround the player and adaptive music that reacts in real-time to the game play, putting the gamer at the heart of the action” stated dSonic co-founder Kemal Amarasingham. “The music changes depending on game events such as the intensity of the battle, how many health points you have (or don’t), making a kill, etc. It’s smart audio, and something fans will really love – no matter what the genre is, this is a feature that can enhance any game.”
dSonic is looking to implement Adaptive Audio into more games, with recent credits including Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Mage Knight: Apocalypse.
